Humble Arts Foundation curators want to see your photographic clichés – reimagined!
EDITORS NOTE: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JAN 27. WOOHOO!
Photographers, photo editors and curators LOVE talking, complaining and laughing about photographic clichés.
Ask any Facebook photo group (we know you’re thinking “ok boomer, Facebook’s for old people”… we get it, bear with us) or random gathering of photographers and you’ll get a fire of responses like:
Kids playing in front of fire hydrants
Deadpan portraits or dead animals
Mannequins
Pigeons
Sunsets or eclipses
Covered cars
Road trips
Any “shot” that compels long lens’d dudes to proclaim “nice capture, Broseph”
Reflections
Ansel Adams
The American Flag
Contemplative man staring off into an existential landscape
Kenneth Josephson ripoffs by people who have never heard of Kenneth Josephson
Abandoned buildings
Prisms ‘n rainbows
Anything and everything THIS INSTAGRAM HANDLE so eloquently compares….
Pretty much photography’s entire history ….
We’ve come to a point where getting mad about photographic clichés is often just as trite as the photographic clichés themselves. SO….
For Humble’s next online group show, we want to see your tropes reborn.
Make the most hackneyed photographs with a new set of eyes.
Make us care about a sunset, puppy or any other done-to-death image and see it differently.
Do it with snappy irony (also a cliché) or sapped out earnestness.
We have absolutely no idea and every idea of what to expect here. Surprise us.
Deadline: Jan 20th, 2020 —-> OH HEY - WE JUST EXTENDED IT TO Jan 27th!

We <3 you. )
Humble’s co-founder Jon Feinstein and senior editor Roula Seikaly will select images to feature in HAFNY's online Group Show #64: Tropes Gone Wild, which will go live on Humble's website around March 2020 and potentially be shared on Humble’s Instagram.
We will announce selected photographers via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram feed and through our mailing list.
