Foundwork to provide free 1-year memberships to Humble Arts Foundation community.

The constant plague of social media algorithms have made it increasingly difficult, over the past few years, for artists to get their work appropriately seen. And nearly every artist we speak with continues to express frustration and confusion on how to effectively get their work exhibited, purchased, and in front of those who can truly impact their careers.

Our friends at Foundwork recently launched a dedicated platform for artists to create profiles and share their work and information about their practice—and for prospective collaborators to discover and engage with artists wherever they are based.

Founded in 2017 by Adam Yokell, a former Brooklyn gallerist, Foundwork is designed to help connect artists with curators, gallerists, and other collaborators across the global contemporary art community. It’s a connective platform – not a marketplace – and is a professional tool for artists and exhibitors alike.

Seeing the limitations that artists, curators, and gallerists often face trying to branch out and connect with new collaborators, Adam decided to create the platform as a resource specifically for them. It's available to any artist who wishes to participate and enables them to manage their own profiles. It's also easy for arts professionals to search by artist location, affiliations (like an art school), artwork format, and descriptive tags that artists assign themselves to inform how others can find their profiles and works.

We particularly love that unlike many artist platforms, it’s coming from someone in the community, not some impersonal, data-driven company, and is based on actual experience running a gallery and working directly with artists. When Adam first contacted us about the project, we were excited to see him already working with a few artists we’ve collaborated with over the years, including Virginia Wilcox, Saul Robbins, and Ilona Szwarc
