Henry Lee Lucas is an American serial killer who is best known for lying/falsely confessing to upwards of 600 murders. He was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of 11 murders; he died of heart failure while in prison, so the actual number of crimes committed will never be truly accurate. He was also in a romantic relationship and the accomplice of Ottis Toole.

Some of my favorite things in the world are photo books, so its always exciting to see others who are as equally enthralled by published photography. Laurence Vecten and Pierre Hourquet have started a blog in which they are going to document every new book they acquire throughout 2010. One Year of books is off to a really nice start so far, I’m excited to see where it goes and to compare similar book-collecting habits.
Laurence and Pierre also run a couple of other online projects, namely Lozen Up and Books On Line.

Noah Beil – This Is Not My Sky

RJ Shaugnessy – Deathcamp

Marcelo Gomes – Taciturn Heart

Jesper Ulvelius – 100C, Books On Line

Jessica Williams – Tenderness, Books On Line

Guillaume Greff – Heimat, Books On Line

Ottis Toole was an American serial killer who was charged for three counts of murder, but confessed to four more after being incarcerated. He is also known for his relationship with fellow serial killer, Henry Lee Lucas; his paranoid schizophrenia; and for the posthumous indictment for the murder of Adam Walsh (the son of John Walsh, host of America’s Most Wanted). Toole died in 1996 of liver failure while in prison.

Tessellations is a blog I just learned about. It is run by Wm Matthew Harvey and Leah Beeferman; they describe it as “creating narrative through visual conversation. A two-person dialogue.” There is a huge wealth of information behind all the images on the site, but I also really enjoy how minimal it is with just a series of single images that really do feel like a “visual conversation.”
