Life During Wartime opening tomorrow night

From IFC: Revisiting the protagonists of his acclaimed, controversial Happiness—but with a completely new cast (an amazing ensemble including Allison Janney, Shirley Henderson, Paul Reubens, Michael Kenneth Williams, Ally Sheedy, Charlotte Rampling, and Ciarán Hinds)—Solondz’s (Welcome to the Dollhouse) latest catches up with the Jordan sisters ten years after shocking revelations shattered their lives. They’ve moved on—“the past is the past… we live in Florida now,” Helen insists—but the family is still haunted, figuratively and otherwise. Hilarious and tragic, outrageous and poignant, Life During Wartime takes an audacious, unexpectedly resonant look at the boundaries of forgiveness, family and love.

Photo Book of the Week – Myriorama

Estelle Hanania – Myriorama
Published on the occasion of the exhibition Myriorama at FAT Galerie in Paris, France by Gottlund Verlag
2010, edition of 300
ISBN: 978-0-9816855-7-1

I was really happy to see that Estelle Hanania was finally publishing a book as her work has been some of my favorite for a while, and even better that it was being published by Gottlund. The work in this book feels really genuine and original. Her work has a bit of a documentary feel, but the subject matter and handling of the imagery gets rid of the overbearing notion of this being a strict documentary photo-essay. The letterpress cover and binding are really nice, too.
