Serial Killer Art – Ottis Toole

Ottis Toole was an American serial killer who was charged for three counts of murder, but confessed to four more after being incarcerated. He is also known for his relationship with fellow serial killer, Henry Lee Lucas; his paranoid schizophrenia; and for the posthumous indictment for the murder of Adam Walsh (the son of John Walsh, host of America’s Most Wanted). Toole died in 1996 of liver failure while in prison.

Tessellations

Tessellations is a blog I just learned about. It is run by Wm Matthew Harvey and Leah Beeferman; they describe it as “creating narrative through visual conversation. A two-person dialogue.” There is a huge wealth of information behind all the images on the site, but I also really enjoy how minimal it is with just a series of single images that really do feel like a “visual conversation.”

Photo Book of the Week – JSBJ Blue Zines

Étrange Stabilité – Jeremie Egry
Hiatus – Aurélien Arbet
Fils de la Liberté – Grant Willing
Monologue – Nicolas Poillot
Le Monde Gelé – Peter Sutherland

All published by Je Suis Une Bande de Jeunes, 2009-10, edition of 50.

Je Suis Une Bande de Jeunes has been making a series of small, very limited edition fanzines since summer, 2009. These publications are all similar in design- all are lazer-jet printed, 46 pages, and feature a photographic print on the royal blue cover. I got the first two in the series last year and was fortunate enough to have made my own book with them as well. The quality of everything I have seen from JSBJ has always blown me away, they have a really simple aesthetic that always feels “right.”
