Ottis Toole was an American serial killer who was charged for three counts of murder, but confessed to four more after being incarcerated. He is also known for his relationship with fellow serial killer, Henry Lee Lucas; his paranoid schizophrenia; and for the posthumous indictment for the murder of Adam Walsh (the son of John Walsh, host of America’s Most Wanted). Toole died in 1996 of liver failure while in prison.

You needed to stop saying things are “the new black” like 3 years ago but for photo, Friday is the new Thursday. Two solid yet divergent shows are opening this Friday in Manhattan and Long Island City. That’s tomorrow.
You should go.

Photographs by Jan Groover and Lucas Blalock; Sculpture by Fabienne Lasserre and Paul Lee; Paintings by Joe Fyfe and Thomas Lindvig and Prints by Curtis Mann, Dieter Roth and Bridget Riley will be on view.
Redi-Mix will be open from Friday, February 26, 2009 through March 31, 2010 at Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts at 526 West 26th Street, Suite 605, New York, NY.

Tessellations is a blog I just learned about. It is run by Wm Matthew Harvey and Leah Beeferman; they describe it as “creating narrative through visual conversation. A two-person dialogue.” There is a huge wealth of information behind all the images on the site, but I also really enjoy how minimal it is with just a series of single images that really do feel like a “visual conversation.”

Étrange Stabilité – Jeremie Egry
Hiatus – Aurélien Arbet
Fils de la Liberté – Grant Willing
Monologue – Nicolas Poillot
Le Monde Gelé – Peter Sutherland
All published by Je Suis Une Bande de Jeunes, 2009-10, edition of 50.
Je Suis Une Bande de Jeunes has been making a series of small, very limited edition fanzines since summer, 2009. These publications are all similar in design- all are lazer-jet printed, 46 pages, and feature a photographic print on the royal blue cover. I got the first two in the series last year and was fortunate enough to have made my own book with them as well. The quality of everything I have seen from JSBJ has always blown me away, they have a really simple aesthetic that always feels “right.”
